OPERATIONS MANAGER

McKevitt Trucking Limited has an immediate opening for an Operations Manager based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Operations Manager will bring a solid background working in LTL and Truckload management with Dry Van and truckload freight, destined for points throughout Canada and the USA. Our ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the transportation industry, excellent communication and managerial skills, strong interpersonal and problem resolution skills. You must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, and work well under pressure.

RESPONSIBILTIES

Direct the day to day operations of dispatch

Conduct performance evaluations in a timely fashion

Determine and provide training

Supervise Dispatch department

Able to communicate effectively with drivers

Communicate and provide constructive feedback

Maintain clear and adequate liaison and communications with customers

Interface with sales and personnel on rate quotations made to customer

Search for and utilize more efficient and economical methods of operation for increasing profitability

REQUIREMENTS

Must be willing to relocate

7 – 10 years of related experience and/or training

Excellent communication and managerial skills

Intermediate level computer skills

Strong interpersonal and problem resolution skills

Entrepreneurial business orientation and a demonstrated achievement in bottom-line results

Good knowledge of maintenance and safety issues unique to the industry
