SHOP FOREMAN

McKevitt Trucking Limited has an immediate opening for a Shop Foreman based in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The Shop Foreman will have a solid understanding of the transportation industry. Our ideal candidate requires excellent communication and managerial skills, strong interpersonal and problem resolution skills. You must be comfortable working in a fast paced environment, and work well under pressure.

RESPONSIBILTIES

Monitor the daily operations and work being performed by walking through the shop in a timely manner

Manage maintenance costs to Standard Repair Times

Maintain daily work schedule with the most effective use of resources for the shop

Code, key and verify daily paper, ensure the system is updated

Ensure services and products received by manufactures and suppliers are to full standards

Ensure that we are utilizing shop employees effectively

Ensure driver equipment reports are dealt within a timely manner

Meet with operations people regarding equipment as it becomes in need of service

Monitor the number of visits that equipment gets repaired or serviced

Communicate with the driving staff, regarding any defects reported on equipment and their concerns

Monitor mechanics hours to examine if any overtime is to be charged

REQUIREMENTS

Grade 12 education

Preference given to Red Seal Certified Journeyman

Three years supervisory experience

Knowledge of equipment maintenance

Knowledge of equipment components and parts

Sound computer knowledge and Windows based programs
